Mark Langley

Our keynote speaker comes to us from a life steeped in Catholic classical education.

The Journey of a Lifelong Catholic Educator

Mark Langley, Headmaster of the Chesterton Academy of Our Lady of Walsingham, has a unique and invaluable perspective on Catholic Classical Education.  In a career that has spanned over 30 years, he has founded, taught, led, and advised Catholic Classical Schools across the country.  There are few individuals who possess his experience, insight and commitment towards classical liberal education and its connection to the Catholic faith.

His career in Catholic education began at the Trivium School in Massachusetts, the first Catholic classical high school in the country, where he taught for twelve years and served as Academic Dean and Director of Fundraising. In 2003, Mark was Invited to Cleveland, Ohio where he founded a new Catholic classical college preparatory school – The Lyceum- a school which now enjoys the reputation as the paradigm of Catholic classical education in the United States. Our own Headmaster, Joseph Gonzalez, is an alumnus of the Lyceum.  Mr. Langley also served two years as the Curriculum Development Manager for Advantage Schools, Inc., a charter school management company assisting in designing, developing and managing the curriculum at 20 charter schools serving 10,000 students around the country.

Mr. Langley has assisted in the founding of schools around the country including the very first Chesterton Academy which was founded using the Lyceum as its model. He and his wife and children have since relocated and he is now the first headmaster for a new Chesterton Academy in Colorado Springs, CO.

Mr. Langley holds a B.A. in Liberal Arts from Thomas Aquinas College. A lover of sacred music, Mark has founded several adult, youth and children's choirs in New Hampshire, Massachusetts and Ohio. Mark is currently studying for a Master's Degree in Systematic Philosophy from Holy Apostles College and Seminary. He enjoys writing about Catholic liberal education on his blog LionandOx.com. He and his wife Stephanie reside in Peyton Colorado and are the proud parents of twelve children and the grandparents of eight grandchildren.
